I've been interested in electronic music since I was 15 and music synthesizers since they appeared and I had one of the first DX7's in the US. DX7 was the first commercial instrument that used FM synthesis which was invented by John Chowning at CCRMA, where this event is held. So one reason for me to attend is that I get to visit CCRMA, and in fact John Chowning himself is signed up for this meetup so perhaps I get to meet him also.
