Attitudes towards AI

We will first discuss "Attitudes About AI" in general terms. I expect us to touch upon issues like Hollywood AI, limits of AI, fear of AI, hopes, dreams and expectations of what AI can do for us, people's perceptions about why AI might be possible or impossible and people's perceptions about whether AI is desirable or undesirable. I also want to touch upon what attitudes various groups of people working in the field might have towards their topic of study.

But note that I don't want to discuss the issues themselves; rather, I'd like to limit us to discuss people's perceptions about these issues, and possibly whether we should attempt to change these perceptions.

Halfway through the discussion I'll show a few slides to focus attention on a few issues related to attitudes about AI that I believe are partially to blame for the lack of progress in the field. Discussion will continue from there.

Fascinating!!! I am a curious mind and enjoyed so much the last meeting that I will probably come back (which is a real statement knowing that seating in an office on a Sunday at 12.00 pm sounds like hell to me!).
