Hi There! I am looking for a Sr Software Eng/Scientist whose expertise is in Machine Learning in for a 10yr old company in San Bruno. This is a full-time position and will be the second Machine Learning engineer on the team. This is an opportunity to work with what some consider to be the best team of computational chemists in the world and to not only make an impact within the company but also well beyond that and into the industry. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing algorithms to predict the properties of drugs. This will include analyzing physical, chemical, and biological prediction problems, outlining solutions, and implementing those solutions in Java. The ideal candidate will have a strong theoretical foundation in machine learning or statistical modeling as well as expertise implementing machine learning algorithms. Requirements: • PhD. in Machine Learning, Statistics, or Probability • Strong theoretical background in Machine Learning, Statistics, or Probability • Strong mathematics skills including the ability to analyze machine learning algorithms • Significant experience developing in Java (preferred), C++, or C including experience implementing machine learning algorithms in one of these languages • A desire to develop software engineering skills • Excellent oral communication skills including the ability to analyze and discuss algorithms on a whiteboard in real time • Excellent written communication skills including the ability to write academic papers with significant mathematical content • In addition the ideal candidate will have: • 4+ years of professional software development experience in Java • Extensive familiarity with the machine learning literature in NIPS and CoLT • The drive to solve truly important problems • Experience in a disciplined software engineering environment • Experience with a Linux development environment • Undergraduate level training in Chemistry, Physics, and/or Biology • Candidates must be prepared to discuss their previous experience in detail. Candidates are expected to communicate clearly what they worked on, how it worked and why choices were made. Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate their proficiency in Java, C++, or C. Candidates should be prepared to propose multiple solutions for a problem and then evaluate the solutions for trade-offs. |
